Universal Pictures has made some changes to its upcoming release slate, just before the Thanksgiving holiday break. Following the news that Disney handed out a December 18, 2015 release date for Star Wars: Episode VII, Universal is moving Warcraft from that date to March 11, 2016.

Back in September, it was reported that Legendary Entertainment issued an offer for Colin Farrell to star in Warcraft, which Duncan Jones is directing. The actor recently spoke about the project, saying the script is amazing.
“Don’t know what’s happening, man. I read the script, if that’s any use to you, and it’s amazing… Duncan was cool. I sat with Duncan for awhile and read the script, loved the script, and we was as cool as can be. I don’t know what’s happening with the film. I don’t know where they are in the process…It’s just a world that I never explored – and it’s a really big and fantastical world. I can’t imagine what he, being as visually gifted as he is, Duncan, and what he did on Moon with, like, a dime, I can’t imagine what he’d do with this Warcraft.”
When asked what character he is playing, the actor wouldn’t reveal any specific details.
“Can I? I probably shouldn’t. I don’t even know, actually, I’ll just say that! I don’t even know. We were just talking, and Duncan just said, ‘There might be something in it for you!’ And I said, ‘Catering?’ [Laughs]“
Paula Patton, Anson Mount and Paul Dano are also in contention for unspecified roles. Production is scheduled to begin in Vancouver January 2014. Warcraft comes to theaters December 18th, 2015.
Producer Charles Roven briefly commented on his video game adaptation Warcraft, confirming a report from August that production begins this coming January in Vancouver.
“I have a great partner in Alex Gartner, who’s in Vancouver with our director Duncan Jones. I was there last week. I’m in an editing room on American Hustle and in the production office in Pasadena on Batman and flying up to Vancouver for Warcraft, which will start in early January.”
