Travis sat down for a Reddit AMA session Wednesday, February 18th to answer fan questions that ranged from the show Vikings, his personal life and the upcoming film, Warcraft. You can read a snippet from the Q&A session below and catch the complete conversation at reddit.com
Something I really love about the way you portray Ragnar is that you act with your whole body, making gestures and playing around with the items/goats on sets, how much of that scripted? Or is it your personality shining through? Also, what’s your favourite sandwich?
Yeah, that’s just actor’s choices. Vegemite and toast. And Ragnar’s favorite sandwich? Would be Athelstan and Lagertha.
Did you realize how big the show Vikings would get? Any chance they make a film for the big screen as well.
You never know!
There’s a lot of very talented people on set, and the Irish crew are very good at what they do, and you’re on set and you see the sets and costumes, and with Michael Hirst at the head of the show, I’m not surprised the show is doing well.
Was the transition from modeling to acting hard? Or did you always want to be an actor?
I was an actor before I modeled. I just couldn’t get an actor’s job. But it got me a Visa, so I appreciate it.
You’ve traveled to distant places (and worlds!) for your job. What are one or two things that you’ve enjoyed eating on your journey?
The free food on-set. It’s free!
How did you enjoy shooting Warcraft? What it will be like?
It was very enjoyable. There’s lots of motion capture. And it’s gonna be amazing, the motion capture stuff, and all the green screen stuff.
How do you think you’d survive as an actual viking? Would you be as bad ass as Ragnar?
No, I’d just fish a lot. I’d be lazy. Yeah. I get seasick.
How do you keep in shape & how tough if filiming Vikings?
The weather’s the hardest thing. And I keep in shape by drinking whiskey instead of beer.
What makes you laugh & what’s something we’d be surprised to know about you?
Ehm – little kids make me laugh, I guess. Surprising to know about me? I’m an extremely bad dancer. Check out the “Techno Viking,” yeah.
Travis, I have to know if Floki is as batshit crazy in person as he is on the set. He’s been my #1 since day one! What kind of person is he when you’re not filming?
Oh, he [Gustaf Skarsgard] is an amazing person. He’s just a very talented actor, he can act crazy very well.

Ahead of the launch of Vikings’s third season on History, three of the show’s stars sat down with BuzzFeed in Los Angeles (on a red bench, with a floral curtain backdrop, as Vikings tend to do) to chat about some behind-the-scenes secrets.
Below, see what Travis Fimmel (Ragnar Lothbrok), Clive Standen (Rollo), and Alexander Ludwig (Bjorn Lothbrok) had to say about what’s coming this season, who’s the biggest flirt on set, who looks best without a shirt, and much more.
1. Who has the hardest time growing a beard?
Alexander Ludwig: Ah fuck, you guys.
Clive Standen: Katheryn [Winnick, who plays Lagertha] grows them better than you.
2. Who takes the most time getting their hair done on set?
CS: You can just see by the picture, it’s Travis. It’s true — with all the tattoos!
AL: Travis gets all the tattoos all over his head.
3. Who’s the best at fighting in a battle scene?
AL: I am. I’m totally kidding. It’s Clive. Clive does all the good fighting stuff.
CS: It’s a tough one to call though, anyway, because we all have different weapons and I’ve got a sledgehammer.
Travis Fimmel: Clive can do tricks with his swords too, but he doesn’t fight with swords [on the show].
4. Who has the most injuries on set?
CS: That’d be me.
AL: Yeah, that’s Clive as well.
CS: Yeah, I’m always getting stabbed with either other people’s weapons or my own weapon. I’ve been known to smack myself in the face with my own axe.
5. Who’s the biggest flirt on set?
AL: That’s a tough one too.
CS: It’s gotta be between Jefferson Hall [Torstein] and Travis. When they’re together…
AL: They flirt with each other.

Last week, Warcraft director Duncan Jones took to his Twitter page to discuss his highly-anticipated video game adaptation, revealing that they are trying to let people unfamiliar with the game know this is a movie “they’ll genuinely want to see.” The director admits that marketing the movie is tough. His tweets sparked a number of replies from fans, though, where he revealed some interesting tidbits, including that he may make separate trailers that showcase the Horde and Alliance that focus on each side. Here’s his initial message to the fans, which spawned several tweets in response.
“So let’s chat. I’ve got a movie coming out next year; Warcraft. It’s based on a computer game of the same name but it’s pretty unique. We’re trying to work out how best to let people who don’t play the game know that this is a film they’ll genuinely want to see. You know as well as I do, game to film adaptations have a checkered past, but I’m proud of this beast. It’s unique. It’s something special.”
As for the separate trailers for Horde and Alliance, the director added that he actually has pitched this idea to Legendary Pictures, but we’ll have to wait and see if this idea ever comes to fruition. When asked about the visual effects, the director said that, “we fit somewhere between Planet of the Apes, Fellowship of the Ring and Avatar. The first trailer was released during Comic-Con 2014, but we haven’t seen any new footage since then. Do you think it would be a good idea to make separate Horde and Alliance trailers for Warcraft?
Warcraft comes to theaters March 11th, 2016 and stars Ben Foster, Toby Kebbell, Travis Fimmel, Dominic Cooper, Paula Patton, Clancy Brown, Daniel Cudmore, Ben Schnetzer. The film is directed by Duncan Jones. (Source)

he History Channel’s Vikings waste no time getting back to what they do best in Season 3’s premiere: Fighting.
In a sneak peek of the episode titled “Mercenary,” Ragnar Lothbork (Travis Fimmel) returns to Wessex and keeps Mercian fighters at bay. He’s joined by son Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig), brother Rollo (Clive Standen), ex-wife Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) and friend Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard).
At the “Battle With Mercia,” the warriors surge forward blocking with their shields and slicing hard through their enemies as Mercia’s king and Princess Kwenthrith (Amy Bailey) look on with angst.
This season, Ragnar has ascended to king and promises to battle King Ecbert’s (Linus Roache) foes in exchange for farming land. But new land isn’t all Ragnar has his sights on when he learns of the mythical city Paris that’s impregnable.
Ragnar’s insatiable appetite to raid will continue to spawn more rifts, betrayals and shocking losses throughout the season.
From Michael Hirst, History Channel’s first scripted drama returns with 10 episodes. Vikings premieres Thursday, February 19th on the History Channel.
