New project!

Travis has been insanely quiet lately, but I do have some news on a new project.

EXCLUSIVE: “Hellcats” star Aly Michalka, model-turned-actor Travis Fimmel and “Californication” thesp Madeline Zima have joined the cast of Smokewood Entertainment’s “Long Time Gone.”
“Precious” producer Sarah Siegel-Magness makes her directorial debut with the pic, which stars Meg Ryan as a woman who suffers a nervous breakdown after her cheating husband leaves her. Zach Gilford and Graham Rogers co-star as her two sons who, along with the latter’s live-in girlfriend (Amanda Crew), attempt to comfort Ryan in her time of need.

Michalka will play Janine, a local girl who went to high school with Rogers and finds herself attracted to him despite being a few years older.

Fimmel will play Jeff, an intelligent Grateful Dead fan who sells pot to Rogers, while Zima will play Annie, an earnest hippie who works at a food co-op and gets fixed up with Gilford.

'Needle' Gets North America Distributor.

Needle has a North American distributor now!

Grindstone Entertainment Group LLC, has acquired all North American rights to the film and will release it through Lionsgate Home Entertainment while Shochiku has acquired all distribution rights for Japan.

Head of acquisitions at Grindstone Entertainment, Stan Wertlieb, commented “We are thrilled to have acquired this fresh and fun horror film which we believe is the perfect compliment to Lionsgate’s already strong home entertainment line-up for 2011”.

Can’t wait to actually be able to see this movie, I’ve heard nothing but good about it.

Pure Country 2 news.

Travis is in another movie called Pure Country 2; The Gift. And you can find a synopsis for it right over at The Examiner. It sounds interested, not my cup of tea but I’ll watch it and give it a chance, just for Travis.

New Project!

Exciting news, Travis has signed on to do a new series! Very excited for this one and I really hope it gets picked up, FX brings some really good shows to the table (like Sons of Anarchy) and I’m excited as to what this show could be.

Travis Fimmel (The Beast) has signed on to join Luke Grimes and John Hawkes in the FX crime-drama pilot Outlaw Country. Fimmel will play a “hard drinking gang member” in the show, which centers on a southern organized-crime family. You may remember Fimmel from the short-lived 2003 CW series Tarzan. Fimmel is probably hoping you don’t, though.

I disagree with the last statement. I surely remember Tarzan and it’s what made me love him even more. I think without Tarzan, he never would have gotten some of the roles he’s gotten in films and television.

'Needle' has a Euro distributor.

John Soto’s voodoo thriller Needle has been snapped up by a European distributor – even before the film screens at Cannes.

Needle is the story of two brothers who go on a quest to find an ancient voodoo machine, and was filmed in Perth. One by one, a group of teenage friends get picked off by some sort of supernatural serial killer.

It stars Michael Dorman, Trilby Glover, Calvin Klein model Travis Fimmel, Jessica Marais and John Jarratt.

Perth director Soto also wrote the screenplay, while Kane Manera produced it.

American distribution company Lighting Entertainment has been spruiking the product, and negotiated a sale to German-speaking group Telepool even before the scheduled Cannes screening.

“There has been tremendous interest in Needle since we first showed the promo in Berlin,” Lightning co-president Richard Guardian told Screen Daily.

“Buyer reaction to this initial footage made it clear that we had something special on our hands and we expect an even greater reaction to the finished version being screening in Cannes.”

Soto aimed from the start to make a film with international appeal. He described the plot as being Agatha Christie-style, and a gruesome suspense-filled story.

Very happy to hear this information!

News About Needle

Lightning licensed German-speaking Europe to Telepool, which negotiated a pre-emptive acquisition ahead of the film’s market premiere screenings in Cannes.

Playarte acquired the film for Brazil and Eagle Films for Middle East. Lighting Entertainment is handling worldwide sales excluding Australia and New Zealand, where the filmmakers are in talks with distributors.

Michael Dorman, Trilby Glover, Travis Fimmel and John Jarratt star in the story of a student who teams up with his estranged brother to recover a deadly 18th century device that goes missing after he inherits it.

Soto wrote the screenplay with Anthony Egan and Deidre Kitcher produced. The film shot entirely in Western Australia.

Travis gets 'Chased'

PARKER COUNTY — Actors and crews were south of Millsap Tuesday and again today, shooting the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced pilot of “Chase,” which will air on NBC TV perhaps early this summer.

The pilot features a group of Texas-based U.S. Marshals – part of a team chasing violent criminals – who track a fugitive in Dallas, Fort Worth and across the “Mexico/U.S. Border near El Paso” in western Parker County.

The show’s team of marshals includes Kelli Giddish (“Past Life”), Amaury Nolasco (“Prison Break”), Cole Hauser (“Good Will Hunting”), Rose Rollins (“The L Word”) and Jesse Metcalfe (“Desperate Housewives”).

On Tuesday and again today, the actors, approximately 80 extras and many crew staged a Mexico/U.S. border scene on the old State Highway 80 steel bridge crossing the Brazos River.

The fugitive, played by Travis Fimmel (“The Beast” and “Tarzan”) dodges through and around vehicles and pedestrians on the bridge pursued by Giddish and her team. His character, Mason Boyle, eventually jumps into the muddy “Rio Grande River,” (really the Brazos) along with Giddish – or her stunt double.

Bruckheimer is know for action in such films as “Armageddon” and “Top Gun” and in the “CSI” television series. Other locations for Bruckheimer’s Dallas-based production are East Dallas neighborhoods and the Fort Worth stockyards, where they wove in and through the longhorn herd.
